Quantum education, summer schools, hackathons & workshops — from Vietnam to Southeast Asia
Quantum Computing for Social Good concluded successfully at ICISE, Gia Lai, with 26 teams competing across five challenge tracks. Six standout teams were selected for investment-backed startup incubation. Co-organised by IAS, VNQuantum, NIC and the Open Quantum Institute (CERN).
From quantum computing hackathons to astronomy summer schools in the mountain
The 48th edition of the International School for Young Astronomers (ISYA), a long-running IAU programme running since 1967, comes to Vietnam for the first time. A three-week intensive programme for early-career astronomers from across Asia, co-organised by the IAU's Office for Young Astronomers (OYA) and ICISE.
A one-year, fully-funded residency for young Vietnamese talent to build deep expertise in quantum technology, work on a real Quantum Innovation Project, and get 1:1 mentorship from Quandela experts. Co-organised by QTU (Quang Trung University's Quantum Center), Nam A Bank, and Quanova.
Vietnam's first & Southeast Asia's second quantum hackathon, completed successfully in Gia Lai. 26 teams competed; 6 teams received investment packages for startup incubation.
Hands-on observational astronomy at one of Southeast Asia's finest dark sky sites, completed successfully. Participants operated real telescopes, collected scientific data, and contributed to ongoing IAS research programmes.
At IAS, training means doing. Every program is built around live research projects — observing runs on our telescopes, real astronomical datasets, and working quantum technology — so participants learn the way scientists actually work. All astronomy and quantum training is designed and led by IAS researchers, giving trainees direct mentorship from the people driving the science itself.
